I can't believe the semester is already beginning. Actually, I can. I had a very long, nice and relaxing, much-needed break. Last semester was brutal and it pains me to even think about it. Ok, it wasn't that bad, but I am so ready to start fresh. This semester I am taking 3 classes. Health Promotion in Maternity Nursing and Research Methods on Friday and Epidemiology in Public Health on Monday. They all seem great and suprisingly not too overwhelming. So far my Tues., Wed., and Thursdays are free, but I am desperately looking for a job. I just got a call from CommUnity Care asking if my school schedule would allow time for their training. Oh I hope it works out! They said they will call me later in the week to set up an interview. So we shall see. This semester I will be working with a Labor and Delivery Nurse Educator, which should be really exciting. I will get a chance to see her role as a Masters prepared Nurse and work on a project. I wonder what I will do. I really need to start thinking about all of my research projects soon, this shall be interesting. Last semester I conducted an assessment on African American breastfeeding mothers to determine what types of interventions we could implement to increase their rates of breastfeeding, since they have the lowest rates of all ethnicities. It was a great project and I learned so much from it. So hopefully next semester I will get a chance to implement one of my programs. I would love to provide physicians with literature and evidence about their role in promoting breastfeeding during women's prenatal visits. This would be such a wonderful opportunity for women to get support from their physicians before the baby is born to start preparing. Well...I guess it's time to get started on some of this school work. Oh and one more thing....I can finally say...I GRADUATE THIS YEAR!!! This December is the expected date. Oh how I have waited for this after..ummm....10 years of college!
